7 Common mistakes in Salaah

Mistake 1: Reciting Surat al-Fatiha fast without pausing after each verse.

The Prophet (SAW) used to pause after each verse of this surah. (Abu Dawood)

Mistake 2: Sticking the arms to the sides of the body, in rukoo' or sujood, and sticking the belly to the thighs in sujood.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'Let not one of you support himself on his forearms (in sujood) like the dog. Let him rest on his palms and keep his elbows away from his body.' (Sahih Muslim) . The Messenger of Allah (SAW) used to keep his arms away from his body during rukoo' and sujood that the whiteness of his armpits could be seen (Sahih Muslim).
Mistake 3: Gazing upward during prayer.

This may cause loss of concentration. We are commanded to lower our gaze, and look at the point at which the head rests during sujood. The Prophet (SAW) warned: 'Let those who raise their gaze up during prayer stop doing so, or else their sights would not return to them. i.e. lose their eyesight].' (Muslim)

Mistake 4 : Resting only the tip of the head on the floor during sujood.

The Prophet (SAW) said: 'I am commanded to prostrate on seven bones the forehead and the nose, the two hands [palms], the two knees, and the two feet.' (Sahih Muslim) Applying the above command necessitates resting the forehead and the nose on the ground during sujood.

Mistake 5 : Hasty performance of prayer which does not allow repose and calmness in rukoo' or sujood.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) saw a man who did not complete his rukoo' [bowing], and made a very short sujood [prostration] ; he (SAW) said: 'If this man dies while praying in this manner, he would die upholding a religion other than the religion of Muhammad.' Abu Hurairah (RA) said:
'My beloved friend, Muhammad (SAW) forbade me to perform postures of prayer copying the picking of a rooster; (signifying fast performance of prayer), moving eyes around like a fox and the sitting like monkeys ( i.e. to sit on thighs).' (Imam Ahmad & at-Tayalisi) The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: ' The worst thief is the one who steals from his own prayer.' People asked, 'Messenger of Allah! How could one steal from his own prayer?' He ( SAW) said: 'By not completing its rukoo' and sujood.' (At Tabarani & al-Hakim).
To complete rukoo' is to stay in that posture long enough to recite 'Subhana rabbiyal Adtheem' three times, SLOWLY, and 'Subhana rabbiyal-a'ala' three times, SLOWLY, in sujood. He (SAW) also announced: 'He who does not complete his rukoo' and sujood, his prayer is void.' (Abu Dawood & others)

Mistake 6 : Counting tasbeeh with the left hand

The Prophet (SAW) used to count tasbeeh on the fingers of his right hand after salah. Ibn Qudamah (RA) sai d: ' The Messenger of Allah (SAW) used his right hand for tasbeeh.' (Abu Dawood). The above hadeeth indicates clearly that the Prophet (SAW) used only one hand for counting tasbeeh. No Muslim with sound mind would imagine that the Prophet (SAW) used his left hand for counting tasbeeh. Aa'ishah (RA) said that the Prophet (SAW) used his left hand only for Istinjaa', or cleaning himself after responding to the call of nature. He never used it for tasbeeh. Yasirah (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAW) commanded women to count tasbeeh on their fingers.
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'They (the fingers) will be made to speak, and will be questioned (on the Day of Resurrection. )' (At-Tirmidhi) .. The above Hadeeth indicates that it is preferable to count tasbeeh on the fingers of the right hand than to do so on masbahah (rosary).

Mistake 7 : Crossing in front of a praying person.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) warned: 'Were the one who crosses in front of a praying person to know the consequences of doing so, he would have waited for *forty better than to cross in front of him.' (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim). *The forty in the tradition may be days months or even years. Allah knows best.

Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) alizaliwa katika mji unaoitwa Aar uliopo kandokando ya mto wa Furaat (Euphrates) Al Kufa - Iraq.
Inajulikana kuwa Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) aliuhama mji huo na kuishi sehemu iliyokuwa ikiitwa Haraan na hatimaye akahamia nchi ya Palastina na huko ndiko alikofanya makao yake ya kuufikisha ujumbe alopewa na Mola wake.

Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) anawasili Misri
Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) akifuatana na mkewe alikwenda kutembelea nchi ya Misri, na huko alipokelewa na mfalme wa Misri aliyewaweka ndani ya qasri yake, na usiku ulipoingia mfalme huyo alijaribu kumdhuru Bibi Sarah mke wa Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam), lakini Mwenyezi Mungu alimkinga bibi huyo na shari hiyo kwa kuufanya mkono wa mfalme upooze kila anapojaribu kumsogelea.
Alipoona dalili za qudra ya Mwenyezi Mungu zikimlinda bibi huyo, mfalme akaacha vitimbi vyake na kuamua kumpa Bibi Sarah zawadi, na zawadi hiyo ni binti yake aitwae Hajarah, na Sarah akaikubali zawadi hiyo na akamuozesha binti huyo mumewe Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam).

Anarudi kwao
Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) akarudi kwao akiwa amefuatana na wake zake wawili, Bibi Sarah na Bibi Hajarah, na kutokana na mke mpya, Mwenyezi Mungu alimruzuku mtoto wa kiume waliyempa jina la Ismail, jambo lililomfanya Bibi Sarah awe na wivu mkubwa juu ya mke mwenzake, na baada ya kuamrishwa na Mwenyezi Mungu Subhanahu wa Taala, Nabii Ibrahim akamchukuwa Bibi Hajarah pamoja na mwanawe Ismail aliyekuwa bado mchanga wakati huo, na kufunga nao safari ndefu kutoka Palastina hadi nchi ya Hijazi (Saudia hivi sasa).

Anawasili Makka
Alipowasili Makkah penye bonde baina ya Safa na Marwa mahali kilipo kisima cha maji ya zamzam hivi sasa, na wakati huo nyumba ya Mwenyezi Mungu (Al Kaaba) ilikuwa ni sehemu iliyonyanyuka tu juu ya ardhi, ikishambuliwa na upepo mkali pamoja na mikondo ya maji ya mvua iliyokuwa ikizikwanguwa pembe nne za nyumba hiyo.
Hapakuwa na mtu anayeishi mahali hapo wala nyumba wala maji isipokuwa mti mmoja alipowaacha mkewe na mwanawe chini yake, akawawekea birika la maji pamoja na chombo alichowatilia tende ndani yake, kisha akageuka na kuianza safari ndefu ya kurudi Palastina.
Mama yake Ismail alipomuona mumewe akirudi na kuwaacha mahali hapo walipopafikia baada ya safari ndefu iliyowachukuwa siku nyingi njiani, mahali pasipo na mji wala kijiji. Hapakuwa na hata dalili ya kuwepo mtu mahali popote karibu na hapo, akamfuata mumewe na kumuuliza:
“Unatuachia nani mahali hapa pasipo na mtu yeyote?”
Akamuuliza hivyo mara nyingi lakini Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) hakumjibu.
Mwisho Mama yake Ismail akamuuliza:
“Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye Aliyekuamrisha?”
Nabii Ibrahim akamjibu:
“Naam, ndiyo.”
Kwa imani iliyothibiti, kwa utiifu mkubwa na kwa moyo uliosalimu amri, Bibi Hajarah akamwambia:
“Kwa hivyo Hatotupoteza”.

Hapo ndipo Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) alipogeuka na kuianza safari ndefu ya kurudi Sham akimuacha nyuma mkewe na mwanawe wa mwanzo na wa pekee wakati ule, na baada ya kutembea muda kidogo mahali ambapo mkewe hakuweza kumuona, Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) akageuka nyuma na kuomba dua ifuatayo:
رَّبَّنَا إِنِّي أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِي بِوَادٍ غَيْرِ ذِي زَرْعٍ عِندَ بَيْتِكَ الْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُواْ الصَّلاَةَ فَاجْعَلْ أَفْئِدَةً مِّنَ النَّاسِ تَهْوِي إِلَيْهِمْ وَارْزُقْهُم مِّنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَ
“Mola wetu! Hakika mimi nimewaweka (nimewakalisha baadhi ya kizazi changu (mwanangu Ismaili na mama yake Hajarah) katika bonde (hili la Makkah) lisilokuwa na mimea yoyote; katika nyumba yako takatifu (ya Al Kaaba utakayotwambia tuijenge).
Mola wetu! Wajaalie wasimamishe Sala. Na ujaalie nyoyo za watu zieleke kwao (wapende kuja kukaa hapa ili pawe mji) na uwaruzuku matunda ili wapate kushukuru.”
Ibrahim – 37

Anaamrishwa amchinje mwanawe
Nabii Ibrahim alikuwa mara kwa mara akija Makkah kuwazuru mkewe na mwanawe na hapana anayejuwa uhakika wa idadi ya ziara hizo, isipokuwa wanahistoria wameelezea juu ya ziara nne maarufu.
Ya mwanzo ni pale alipooteshwa kumchinja mwanawe wa pekee Ismail (Alayhis salaam) na mwanawe akakubali kutii amri hiyo, na alipomlaza mwanawe kifudifudi ili asiuone uso wake asije akamuonea huruma, na baada ya Ismail (Alayhis salaam) kutoa shahada, na Ibrahim kusalimu amri kwa Mwenyezi Mungu huku akijitayarisha kumchinja mwanawe, Mwenyezi Mungu akamfunulia Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) kuwa asimchinje mwanawe na badala yake akamkomboa kwa kondoo.
Kisa hicho kimeelezwa ndani ya kitabu cha Mwenyezi Mungu Aliposema:
فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ. وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَنْ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ. قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ. إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاء الْمُبِينُ. وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
“Basi wote wawili walipojisalimisha (kwa Mwenyezi Mungu), na akamlaza kifudifudi (amchinje).
Pale pale tulimwita; “Ewe Ibrahim; Umekwishasadikisha ndoto. (Usimchinje mwanao).” Kwa yakini hivi ndivyo tunavyowalipa watendao mema.
Bila shaka (jambo) hili ni jaribio lililo dhahiri, (mtihani ulio dhahiri).
Basi tukamkomboa kwa mnyama wa kuchinjwa mtukufu,”

Mama yake Ismail na kisima cha Zamzam
Bibi Hajarah (Mama yake Ismail) akawa anakula zile tende alizowekewa na mumewe huku akimnyonyesha mwanawe, lakini haukupita muda mrefu maji yakaanza kupunguwa na hatimaye kumalizika, na mwanawe alipoanza kuona kiu, Bibi Hajarah akaanza kuhangaika huku na kule akimtafutia maji.
Akaliendea jabali lililokuwa karibu yake - ‘Jabal Safa’ – na kulipanda, na alipofika kileleni akaanza kutizama huku na kule akitafuta maji au msafara wa watu watakaokuwa na maji, lakini hakuona kitu.
Akateremka na kuanza kutembea taratibu penye bonde lililopo baina ya jabali Safa na jabali Marwa, na alipofika kati kati ya bonde akaanza kukazana huku akiliendea jabali Marwa na kulipanda, na alipofika kileleni akaanza kutizama huku na kule, lakini bila mafanikio yoyote.
Anasema Ibni Abbas (Radhiya Llahu anhu) kuwa Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) amesema:
“Hiyo ndiyo Saayi mnayotembea baina ya Safa na Marwa.”

Bibni Hajarah aliendelea kufanya hivyo mara saba, na alipokuwa akiliendea jabali Marwa akasikia sauti ngeni ikimsemesha. Alinyamaza kimya ili aisikie vizuri huku akitazama mahali alipo mwanawe, akamuona Malaika amesimama mahali kilipo kisima cha Zamzam hivi sasa, huku akichimba kwa ubawa wake mpaka maji yalipofurika, ndipo mamake Ismail alipoyaendea na kuanza kuyachota kwa mikono yake huku akimnywesha mwanawe na kunywa yeye mwenyewe.
Alipokuwa akinywa na kumnywesha mwanawe, Malaika akamwambia:
“Usiogope - hutopotea, kwani hapa ndipo ilipo nyumba ya Mwenyezi Mungu itakayojengwa na mtoto huyu na baba yake."

Watu wa kabila la Jurhum
Hazikupita siku nyingi na mama yake Ismail akajiwa na msafara wa watu wa kabila la Jurhum ambao asili yao ni kutoka Yemen waliokuwa wasafiri waliopiga kambi sehemu ya chini ya mji wa Makkah mbali na hapo, na walikuja baada ya kuwaona ndege wakiruka sehemu aliyopo mama yake Ismail wakasema:
“Bila shaka ndege hawa wameona maji”, na kwa vile inajulikana kuwa sehemu zile si kawaida kupatikana maji, wakaamua kutuma watumishi wakachunguze sehemu walipoonekana ndege, na walipokiona kisima cha maji ya Zamzam wakarudi kuwajulisha wenzao walioamua kukiendea haraka sana, lakini walipomuona mama yake Ismail na mwanawe wakamuomba wakae naye wakamwambia:
“Utaturuhusu tukae pamoja na wewe mahali hapa?”
Mama yake Ismail akawaambia:
“Nitakuruhusuni, lakini maji haya ni yangu.”
Wakasema:
“Tumekubali.”
Anasema Ibni Abbas (Radhiya Llahu anhu) kuwa Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) amesema:
“Jambo hilo lilimfurahisha sana mama yake Ismail, kwani alikuwa mwenye kupenda watu.”

Mwambie abadilishe kizingiti
Watu wa kabila la Jurhum wakateremka na kuazisha maisha mepya mahali hapo, na Nabii Ismail (Alayhis salaam) akaishi pamoja nao, akajifundisha kwao lugha ya kiarabu, akajifundisha kuwinda, na alipokuwa mkubwa wakamuozesha mmoja katika binti zao.
Baada ya kuishi muda aloishi, mama yake Ismail akafariki dunia na Ismail akaendelea kuishi mahali hapo pamoja na watu wa kabila hilo la Jurhum.
Nabii Ibrahim alikuja kumtembelea mwanawe katika ziara yake ya pili lakini bahati mbaya hajamkuta nyumbani na badala yake alimkuta mkewe, na alipomuuliza mahali alipo Ismail akamwambia:
“Ametoka kwenda kututafutia rizki.”
Nabi Ibrahim akamuuliza juu ya hali zao na mwanamke akamjibu:
“Sisi ni wanadamu na hali zetu ni za dhiki na shida.”
Akaendela kumshitakia hali zao, na Nabi Ibrahim alipoondoka kurudi nchi ya Palastina akamwambia:
“Akirudi mumeo msalimie kisha mwambie abadilishe kizingiti cha nyumba.”
Aliporudi Nabii Ismail (Alayhis salaam) alihisi kuwa jambo fulani limetokea nyumbani kwake, akamuuliza mkewe:
“Alikuja mtu hapa?”
Mkewe akajibu:
“Ndiyo, alikuja mzee mmoja na wasfu wake ni hivi na hivi, akauliza juu yako na mimi nikamwambia ulipo, akaniuliza juu ya hali zetu, nikamwambia kuwa sisi ni wanadamu na kwamba hali zetu ni za dhiki na shida.”
Akamuuliza:
“Alikuusia jambo lolote?”
Akajibu:
“Ndiyo, alinambia ukija nikusalimie kisha nikwambie ubadilishe kizingiti cha nyumba.”
Akamwambia:
“Yule alikuwa baba yangu na ameniamrisha nifarikiane na wewe, kwa hivyo rudi kwa wazee wako.”

Baada ya kumtaliki mkewe wa mwanzo, Nabii Ismail (Alayhis salaam) akaoa mke mwingine, na inasemekana kuwa alikuwa binti wa Mudhaadh bin Amru aliyekuwa Sheikh wa kabila la Jurhum.
Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) akaja tena kumtembelea mwanawe katika ziara ya tatu, na safari hii hajamkuta pia, na alipomuuliza mkewe akamwambia:
“Amekwenda kutuletea mahitaji yetu.” Na Ismail alikuwa mwindaji anayesafiri mara kwa mara sehemu za mbali kwa ajili ya kazi yake hiyo na huchukuwa muda mrefu safarini.
Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) akamuuliza:
“Vipi hali zenu?”
Akajibu:
“Tumesitirika alhamdulillah tumo katika kheri kubwa.”
Akawa anasema hivyo huku akimshukuru Mwenyezi Mungu.
Nabii Ibrahim akamuuliza:
“Mnakula chakula gani?”
Akajibu:
“Nyama.”
Akamuuliza:
“Mnakunywa nini?”
Akajibu:
“Maji.”
Akamwambia:
“Mola wangu vibariki nyama na maji.”
Anasema Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam): “Siku hiyo hawakuwa na chochote nyumbani kwao.”
Nabii Ibrahim akamwambia:
“Akirudi mumeo mpe salamu zangu na umwambie akidhibiti vizuri kizingiti cha nyumba yake.”
Aliporudi Ismail akauliza:
“Alikuja mtu leo?”
Akajibu:
“Alikuja mzee mmoja mwenye umbo zuri, akataka kujuwa habari zako, nikamjulisha, akaniuliza juu ya hali zetu nikamwambia kuwa tupo katika kheri.”
Akamuuliza:
“Alikuusia jambo lolote?”
Akamwambia:
“Ndiyo, yeye anakupa salamu nyingi na anakwambia ukidhibiti vizuri kizingiti cha nyumba yako.”
Akamwambia:
“Yule alikuwa baba yangu na ananiamrisha nikamatane na wewe.”

Wananyanyua nguzo za Msikiti
Nabii Ibrahim akaja tena katika ziara yake ya nne, na safari hii Ismail alikuwepo nje ya nyumba yake chini ya mti karibu na kisima cha maji ya zamzam akichonga mshale wake, na alipomuona baba yake akamnyanyukia kwa heshima kubwa, akamwamkia kama mtoto anavyoamuamkia baba yake wakakumbatiana kisha Nabii Ibrahim akasema:
“Mwenyezi Mungu amenipa amri.”
Ismail akamwambia;
“Fanya kama ulivyoamrishwa na Mola wako.”
Akamwambia:
“Na wewe unisaidie.”
Akamwambia:
“Nitakusaidia.”
Akamwambia:
“Mwenyezi Mungu ameniamrisha nijenge nyumba mahali hapa..”
Akamuonesha ile sehemu ya ardhi iliyoinuka karibu na kisima cha maji ya zamzam, kisha wote kwa pamoja wakaanza kufanya kazi ya kuzinyanyua nguzo za nyumba na kuijenga Al Kaaba, na Ismail akawa anamsogezea baba yake mawe huku Ibrahim akijenga, mpaka nyumba ilipokamilika. Walikuwa wakijenga huku wakiomba dua ifuatayo:
“Ewe Mola Wetu! Tutakabalie (tutakabalie amali yetu hii ya kujenga huu msikiti.”
Mwenyezi Mungu Anasema:
وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
“Na Ibrahimu alipoinua kuta za nyumba (hii ya Al Kaaba) na Ismaili (pia) (wakaomba wakasema) “Ewe Mola Wetu! Tutakabalie (tutakabalie amali yetu hii ya kujenga huu msikiti. Hakika wewe ndiye Mwenye kusikia na Mwenye kujua.”
Ibrahim – 127

Na ِkasema:
رَبَّنَا وَابْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولاً مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ العَزِيزُ الحَكِيمُ
“Ee, Mola Wetu! Waletee Mtume anayetokana na wao awasomee Aya Zako, na kuwafundisha Kitabu (chako) na hikima (nyingine) na awafundishe kujitakasa (na kila mabaya) hakika Wewe ndiye Mwenye, nguvu na ndiye Mwenye hikima.”
Al Baqarah-129

Na hii ndiyo tafsiri ya hadithi ya Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) alipoulizwa juu ya mwanzo wa amri yake akasema:
“Mimi ni dua ya baba yangu Ibrahim na bishara ya ndugu yangu Issa alayhimu ssalaam.”

Anasema Ibni Abbas (Radhiya Llahu anhu) kuwa baada ya kukamilisha ujenzi wa msikiti wa Al Kaaba, Mwenyezi Mungu akamuamrisha Nabii Ibrahim awatangazie watu waje kuhiji, na Nabii Ibrahim akasema:
“Ewe Mola wangu vipi itawafikia sauti yangu.”
Akamwambia:
“Juu yako ni kutangaza tu, na ni juu Yangu kuifikisha,” ndipo Nabii Ibrahim alipopanda juu ya kilele cha mojawapo ya milima ya Makkah na kupaza sauti yake akisema:
“Enyi watu mumefaridhishiwa Hija katika nyumba kongwe,” na tangazo hilo likamfikia kila kiumbe baina ya mbingu na ardhi.
“Hamuoni kuwa watu wanauitikia mwito huo kutoka katika kila pembe ya dunia? Na katika riwaya nyingine; “Na wa mwanzo kuuitikia mwito huo walikuwa watu wa Yemen."

Abraha Mhabeshi aliyekuwa gavana wa Al Najashi katika nchi ya Yemeni iliyokuwa ikitawaliwa na Ethiopia wakati huo alikuwa akiona wivu kila anapowaona waarabu wakifunga safari ndefu kwenda kuizuru Al Kaaba, na kwa ajili hiyo akaamua kujenga kanisa kubwa kati ya mji wa Sana-a (mji mkuu wa Yemen) kisha akawataka waarabu waache kwenda Makkah na badala yake wakahiji penye kanisa lake.
Habari hizo zilimfikia mmoja katika watu wa kabila la bani Kinanah, aliyeamua kuingia kanisani nyakati za usiku na kulipaka mavi, jambo lililomghadhibisha sana Abraha aliyekusanya jeshi kubwa lenye idadi ya askari wanaozidi elfu sitini pamoja na tembo ishirini na mbili na yeye mwenyewe akiwa juu ya tembo mkubwa sana, na kuelekea nalo Makkah kwa ajili ya kuibomoa Al Kaaba.
Alipokaribia Makkah, penye bonde la Muhsir baina ya Muzdalifa na Mina, tembo mkubwa akapiga magoti na kukataa kuendelea na safari. Ikawa kila wanapomuelekeza kusini au kaskazini anainuka na kutembea, lakini wanapomuelekeza upande wa Makkah anakataa na hupiga magoti.
Wakawa katika hali hiyo mpaka pale Mwenyezi Mungu alipowapelekea ndege makundi kwa makundi, wakawapiga kwa mawe ya udongo unaounguza.
Mwenyezi Mungu Anasema:
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ. أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ. وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ. تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ. فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ
“Je! Huoni jinsi Mola wako Alivyowafanya watu wenye ndovu?
Je! Hakujaalia vitimbi vyao kuharibika.
Na akawapelekea ndege makundi kwa makundi
Wakawapiga kwa mawe ya udongo wa kuchoma.
Akawafanya kama majani yaliyoliwa (yakatapikwa)?”

Ndege walikuwa wakiwajia kwa wingi makundi kwa makundi, mfano wa vijumba mshale au zuwarde, kila mmoja akiwa amebeba mawe matatu yenye ukubwa kiasi cha dengu, moja mdomoni na mawili ameyabana mguuni, na kila anayepigwa na jiwe mwili wake hukatika vipande vipande na kufa.
Si wote waliopigwa na mawe hayo, walikuwemo wachache walioachwa wakarudi mbio kuelekea makwao huku wakiangukiana. Ama Abraha, Mwenyezi Mungu alimsalitishia maradhi yaliyosababisha makucha yake kukatika na kupukutika huku akirudi alikotoka, na alifariki alipowasili mji wa Sana-a mwili wake ukiwa mfano wa kuku aliyenyonyoka manyoa.
Makureshi, wao walikimbilia sehemu mbali mbali mbondeni na juu ya vilele vya majabali wakihofia maisha yao, na hawakurudi majumbani mwao mpaka baada ya kumalizika yaliyotokea.
Tukio hili lilitokea mwezi wa Muharram kabla ya kuzaliwa kwa Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam) kwa siku hamsini au hamsini na tano takriban muwafaka wa mwisho wa mwezi February au mwanzo wa mwezi wa March mwaka 571 baada ya Nabii Issa.

Katika tafsiri ya Suratul Fyl anasema Ibni Kathiyr;
“Hii ni mojawapo ya neema za Mwenyezi Mungu walizopewa Makureshi baada ya kuwalinda na shari walهokuja nayo watu wa ndovu waliokuja wakiwa na azma ya kuibomoa Al Kaaba na kuiondoa ili isiwepo tena. Lakini Mwenyezi Mungu aliwaangamiza na kuwalazimisha waliobaki warudi wakiwa wameshindwa juu ya kuwa walikuwa watu wanaofuata dini ya Manasara na kwa wakati ule wao walikuwa bora kuliko Makureshi waliokuwa wakiabudu Masanamu, lakini haya yalikuwa ni matayarisho ya kuja kwa Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam), kwa sababu kauli nyingi zinasema kuwa katika mwaka ule alizaliwa.
Kama kwamba uhakika wa mambo unasema; ‘Enyi Makureshi hamkupata nusura hii juu ya Mahabeshi kutokana na ubora wenu, bali kwa ajili ya kuilinda nyumba kongwe itakayopata heshima kwa kuzaliwa hivi karibuni kwa Mtume wa Mwenyzi Mungu, Muhammad (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam) mwisho wa Manabii."

Habari za tukio hili zilienea kila pembe ya ulimwengu wa wakati ule, na kwa vile Wahabeshi walikuwa na uhusiano mzuri na ًWarumi, Waajemi waliokuwa wakingoja fursa nzuri kama hii wakaingia na kuiteka nchi ya Yemen kwa haraka sana, na dola mbili hizi (Uajemi na Roma) ndizo zilizokuwa dola kubwa za wakati ule, na wakati huo huo tukio hili la kuangamizwa kwa watu wa ndovu liliujulisha ulimwengu juu ya utukufu wa nyumba ile ya Mwenyezi Mungu na kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye aliyeitukuza na kuiadhimisha, na kwa ajili hiyo atakapotokea yeyote katika watu wake akasema kuwa yeye ni Mtume, basi tukio hilo linampa nguvu mtu huyo.
Kwa hivyo ndani ya tukio hili mna hekima iliyojificha ya Mwenyezi Mungu ya kuwapa ushindi washirikina dhidi ya watu wa imani kwa njia ya kimiujiza.

Kuujenga upya Al Kaaba
Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam) alikuwa na umri wa miaka thelathini na tano wakati Makureshi walipoujenga upya msikiti wa Al Kaaba, kwa sababu miaka mingi ilikwishapita tokea Nabi Ismail alipoujenga na hapakuwa na kilichobaki katika jengo hilo isipokuwa rundu la udongo lenye urefu wa kiasi cha dhiraa sita, bila ya kipaa, jambo lililowarahisishia wezi kuingia ndani na kuiba hazina zinazowekwa humo.
Na kwa vile miaka mingi ilikwishapita tokea kujengwa kwake, kanuni za maumbile zilikwishafanya kazi yake. Kuta zilikuwa na nyufa, na miaka mitano kabla ya kupewa utume (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam) yalitokea mafuriko makubwa yaliyosababisha maji kuingia ndani ya msikiti na kubomoa sehemu kubwa za msikiti huo, na kwa ajili ya yote hayo Makureshi wakaamua kuujenga tena msikiti huo.

Wakakubaliana kuwa zisiingizwe katika ujenzi wa jengo hilo pesa zozote za haramu. Zisiingizwe pesa za mahari ya mzinzi, wala pesa za riba, wala pesa alizodhulumiwa mtu nk.
Walikuwa wakiogopa kuubomoa msikiti na kuanza kuujenga upya wasije wakadhurika, mpaka alipotangulia Al Walid bin Mughiyrah na kuianza yeye kazi hiyo, na wenzake walipoona kuwa hapana kilichomsibu, ndipo nao wakaingia kazini. Wakawa wanaendelea kuubomoa mpaka walipozifikia nguzo zilizosimamishwa na Nabii Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam), kisha wakaanza kuujenga upya msikiti huo, na kila kabila likapewa sehemu yake ya kujenga, na kila kabila lilikuwa likikusanya mawe yake ya ujenzi, na msimamiaji wa ujenzi alikuwa Mrumi aitwae Baqum.
Kazi ilikwenda vizuri mpaka ulipofika wakati wa kulirudisha jiwe jeusi mahali pake, ndipo mzozo ulipoanza kila kabila likataka kupewa heshima hiyo ya kulirudisha mahali pake.

Mgogoro uliendelea muda wa siku nne au tano na mambo yakawa magumu hata watu wakakaribia kutaka kupigana vita, panga mkononi mpaka pale Abu Umayyah bin Mughiyra Al Makhzumiy alipotoa rai kuwa; wa mwanzo kuingia msikitini kupitia mlangoni ndiye atakayeamua baina yao, na wote wakaridhika na rai hiyo.
Mwenyezi Mungu akataka Mtume wake (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) awe mtu huyo, na walipomuona tu akiingia, wote kwa pamoja wakapiga ukulele wa kuridhika:
"Huyu Muaminifu! Sote tumeridhika naye, huyu Muhammad."
Alipojulishwa juu ya uamuzi huo, Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam) (hii ilikuwa kabla ya kupewa utume) alikubali, na kwa utulivu akaomba kiletwe kitambaa, akakitandaza na kuliweka jiwe jeusi juu yake, kisha akawataka viongozi wa makabila yote kila mmoja akamate upande wa kitambaa, kisha wanyanyuwe kwa pamoja. Wakalinyanyua na walipopafikia mahali pa kuliweka, Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) akalinyanyua yeye kwa mikono yake miwili na kulirudisha mahali pake.
Kwa njia hii Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam) aliweza kulitatua tatizo lililokaribia kuleta umwagaji wa damu mkubwa baina ya Makabila ya Kikureshi, na kila mmoja aliondoka hapo akiwa ameridhika.

Wanaishiwa na pesa za halali
Makureshi walishindwa kuukamilisha msikiti baada ya kuishiwa na pesa za halali, wakaamua kupunguza kiasi cha dhiraa sita upande wa kaskazini mwa Al Kaaba na hii ni ile sehemu inayojulikana kwa jina la Al Hijr (Hijr Ismail) wakashindwa kuunganisha msikiti pamoja na Hijri Ismail ambayo asili yake ilikuwa imekamatana na msikiti. Wakaunyanyua mlango kiasi cha dhiraa mbili kutoka juu ya ardhi asiweze kuingia isipokuwa wanayemtaka wao tu, na urefu wa jengo ulipotimia kiasi cha dhiraa kumi na tano wakaezeka sakafu juu ya nguzo sita, na baada ya kumalizika kazi hiyo, Al Kaaba ikawa na umbo la mraba lenye urefu wa mita kumi na tano, na upande wa jiwe jeusi pamoja na upande wa pili yake (mkabala wake) pande zote mbili kila moja ilikuwa na urefu wa mita kumi.
Na jiwe jeusi liliwekwa juu kiasi cha urefu wa mita unusu kutoka juu ya ardhi, na upande wa mlango na upande wa mkabala wake ukawa na urefu wa mita kumi kila upande, na mlango ukanyanyuliwa kiasi cha mita mbili kutoka juu ya ardhi, na upande wa nje ya Al Kaaba ikaachwa ikiwa imezungukwa na msingi ulionyanyuka kutoka juu ya ardhi kiasi cha robo mita na upana wa kiasi cha nusu mita.
Na sehemu hii ilikuwa ikiitwa Ash Shadherwan, sehemu ambayo asili yake ilikuwa ndani ya jengo la Al Kaaba, lakini Makureshi iliwabidi waiache sehemu hii bila kuijenga, na kwa ajili hiyo msikiti ukawa na umbo la mraba badala ya umbo lake la asili lililofanana na herufi D iwapo utaunganishwa na Hijr kama ulivyojengwa na Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam).

Mara ngapi umebomolewa na kujengwa upya?
Inajulikana kuwa Msikiti wa Al Kaaba umejengwa kwa mara ya mwanzo na Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam).
Mwenyezi Mungu Anasema:
وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
“Na Ibrahimu alipoinua kuta za nyumba (hii ya Al Kaaba) na Ismaili (pia) (wakaomba wakasema) “Ewe Mola Wetu! Tutakabalie (tutakabalie amali yetu hii ya kujenga huu msikiti). Hakika wewe ndiye Mwenye kusikia na Mwenye kujua.”

Imesimuliwa na Imam Muslim katika Sahihi yake na pia ndani ya vitabu vyengine mbali mbali vya elimu ya hadithi na vya sira katika mlango ya 'Kubomolewa na kujengwa upya msikiti wa Al Kaaba' kama ifuatavyo:-
Sehemu kubwa ya msikiti iliungua wakati Al Hajjaj alipoushambulia akitumia 'Manjaniq' (mtambo wa kutupa mawe uliokuwa ukitumika katika vitani vya zamani) akitaka kumuuwa Abdullah bin Al Zubair bin Awaam (Radhiya Llahu anhu) na hii ilikuwa wakati wa utawala wa Yazid bin Muawiyah.
Mwana wa Al Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu) aliuacha msikiti kama ulivyo mpaka ulipoingia msimu wa Hija wa mwaka ule na watu wakawa wengi, akawakusanya na kuwahutubia, akasema:
"Enyi watu! Nataka ushauri wenu juu ya Al Kaaba. Niuvunje msikiti wote kisha niujenge upya au nitengeneze tu sehemu zilizoungua?"
Ibni Abbas (Radhiya Llahu anhu) akasema:
"Mimi ninayo rai, naona ni bora usiubomoe, bali utengeneze tu na uiache kama ilivyo nyumba waliosilimu watu juu yake, na mawe waliosilimu watu juu yake, na alitumwa kwa ajili yake nyumba hiyo Mtume (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)."
Mwana wa Al Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu) akasema:
"Mmoja wenu ikiungua nyumba yake hatoridhika kuiacha ilivyo (bila shaka atapenda kuijenga upya), vipi basi nyumba ya Mola wenu? Mimi nitaswali Istikhara mara tatu kisha nitaamua."
Na baada ya kukamilisha tatu akaamua kuubomoa, lakini kila mmoja aliogopa kupanda na kuianza kazi hiyo asije akadhurika, mpaka alipopanda mtu mmoja na kunyanyua jiwe, akalitupa chini, na watu walipomuona hajadhurika wakaingia na wao kazini na kuianza kazi ya kuubomoa msikiti mpaka walipozifikia nguzo, kisha mwana wa Al Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu) akazinyanyua nguzo na kuujenga upya, na alipomaliza akaishonea Al Kaaba pazia, akaujenga msikiti kama ulivyokuwa wakati wa Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam) kisha akasema:
"Nilimsikia khale yangu (Bibi Aisha (Radhiya Llahu anha) akisema kuwa amemsikia Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) akisema:
"Ingelikuwa watu hawakutoka hivi karibuni tu katika ujahilia na ningelikuwa na pesa za kutosha kuujenga vizuri msikiti, ningeongeza dhiraa tano na kuuganisha na Hijri (Ismail) kisha nikajaalia mlango kwa ajili ya watu kuingia ndani yake na mlango wa kutokea."
Na katika riwaya nyingine:
"Makureshi walipoijenga nyumba walishindwa kuikamilisha kwa sababu waliishiwa na pesa."
Na katika riwaya nyengine kupitia kwa Abdullah bin Abubakar (Radhiya Llahu anhu) kuwa Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) alisema:
"Na ningejenga milango miwili, mmoja mashariki na mmoja magharibi ikawa juu ya ardhi kisha ningeunganisha msikiti na Hijri Ismail."
Akasema Abdullahi bin Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu):
"Mimi leo ninazo pesa na siwaogopei watu."
Akaongeza dhiraa tano na akajenga milango miwili, mmoja kwa ajili ya watu kuingia na mwengine wa kutokea.

Inajengwa tena
Alipouliwa Abdullahi bin Al Zubeir (Radhiya Llahu anhu), Al Hajjaj akamuandikia Abdul Malik bin Marawan aliyekuwa Khalifa wa Waislamu wakati huo na kumjulisha juu ya mabadiliko aliyofanya mwana wa Al Zubair katika msikiti, na Abdul Malik akamjibu:
"Urefu alouongeza mwana wa Al Zubair uache na sehemu aloongeza katika Hijri ibomowe na milango aloiongeza izibe."
Al Hajjaj akafanya kama alivyoambiwa.

Hitimisho
Riwaya zinazokubalika zilizopokewa na maulamaa zinasema kuwa msikiti umejengwa mara nne.
Ya kwanza ulipojengwa na Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhis salaam).
Ya pili wakati wa ujahilia kabla ya Uislamu, na Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu (Swalla Llahu alayhi wasallam)) alishiriki katika ujenzi huo na wakati huo alikuwa na umri wa miaka thelathini na tano na katika riwaya nyingine alikuwa na umri wa miaka ishirini na tano.
Ya tatu ulipojengwa na mwana wa Al Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu).
Ya nne ulipojengwa tena na Al Hajjaj baada ya kupewa amri na Abdul Malik bin Marawan ya kubomoa zile sehemu zilizoongezwa na mwana wa Al Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu).

Imepokelewa pia kuwa Harun Al Rashid alitaka ushauri wa kuujenga upya msikiti huo na kuzirudisha zile sehemu zilizojengwa na Abdullah mwana wa Zubair (Radhiya Llahu anhu), lakini Imam Malik akamnasihi kwa kumwambia:
"Kwa ajili ya Mwenyezi Mungu ewe amiri wa Waisalamu, tafadhali iache nyumba kama ilivyo, na usiifanye ikawa mchezo kwa wafalme, kila mmoja akaja kubomoa na kuujenga upya atakavyo, na mwisho wake haiba ya nyumba itaondoka ndani ya vifua vya watu."

PADRI WA KANISA KATOLIKI ALIYESILIMU

A former British Catholic Priest accepts Islam after reading the Quran and his interactions with Muslims.



“Strongest among men in enmity to the Believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the Believers wilt thou find those who say “We are Christians”: because amongst these are men devoted to learning (priests), and men who have renounced the world (monks), and they are not arrogant. And then they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognize the truth. They pray: ‘Our Lord! We believe, write us down among the witnesses.’ (Surat Al-Maida 82-83)”

This was what happened to the former British Catholic Priest Idris Tawfiq on reciting Islam’s holy book, the Quran, to his students at a school in Britain. And this was one of the important steps in his journey of conversion to Islam.

During a recent lecture he gave at the British Council in Cairo, Tawfiq made clear that he has no regrets about his past and what he holds in regard to what Christians do and his life at the Vatican for five years.

“I enjoyed being a priest helping the people for some years. However, deep inside I was not happy and I felt that there was something not right. Fortunately, and it is God’s will, some events and coincidences in my life led me to Islam,” he told a packed hall at the British Council.

A second important coincidence for Tawfiq was his decision to quit his work at the Vatican, a step followed by making a trip to Egypt.

“I used to think of Egypt as a country of Pyramids, camels, sand and palm trees. I actually took a charter flight to Hurghada.

Shocked to find it similar to some European beaches, I took the first bus to Cairo where I spent the most wonderful week in my life.

This was my first introduction to Muslims and Islam. I noticed how Egyptians are such gentle, sweet people, but also very strong.

“Like all Britons, my knowledge about Muslims up to that time didn’t exceed what I heard from the TV about suicide bombers and fighters, which gave the impression that Islam is a religion of troubles. However, getting into Cairo I discovered how beautiful this religion is. Very simple people selling goods on the street would abandon their trade and direct their face to Allah and pray the moment they heard the call to prayer from the mosque. They have a strong faith in the presence and will of Allah. They pray, fast, help the needy and dream to have a trip to Mecca with the hope of living in heaven in the hereafter,” he said.

“On my return I resumed my old job of teaching religion. The only compulsory subject in British education is Religious Studies. I was teaching about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and others. So everyday I had to read about these religions to be able to teach my lessons to the students, many of whom were Arab Muslim refugees. In other words, teaching about Islam taught me many things.

“Unlike many troublesome teenagers, these students set a good example of what a Muslim could be. They were polite and kind. So a friendship developed between us and they asked if they could use my classroom for prayers during the fasting month of Ramadan.

“Luckily, my room was the only one with a carpet. So I got accustomed to sitting at the back, watching them praying for a month. I sought to encourage them by fasting during Ramadan with them, even though I wasn’t yet a Muslim.

“Once while reciting a translation of the holy Quran in class I reached the verse:

“And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognize the truth.”

To my surprise, I felt tears welling up in my eyes and I tried hard to hide it from the students.”

Earth-shaking eventA turning point in his life, however, came in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in the US on September 11, 2001.

“The following day, I was taking the underground and noticed how terrified the people were. I was also afraid of the repetition of such acts in Britain. At the time, the Western people started fearing this religion they blamed for terrorism.

“However, my previous experience with Muslims took me to a different direction. I started wondering ‘Why Islam? Why do we blame Islam as a religion for the action of terrorists who happened to be Muslims, when no-one accused Christianity of terrorism when some Christians have acted the same way?

“One day I headed to the biggest Mosque in London, to hear more about this religion. Getting into London Central Mosque, there was Yusuf Islam, the former pop singer, sitting in a circle talking to some people about Islam. After a while, I found myself asking him” ‘What do you actually do to become a Muslim?’”

“He answered that a Muslim should believe in one God, pray five times a day and fast during Ramadan. I interrupted him saying that I believed all this and had even fasted during Ramadan. So he asked, ‘What are you waiting for? What is holding you back?’ I said, ‘No, I don’t intend to convert.’

“At that moment the call to prayer was made and everyone got ready and stood in lines to pray.

“I sat at the back, and I cried and cried. Then I said to myself, ‘Who am I trying to fool?’

“After they ended their prayers, I headed to Yusuf Islam, asking him to teach me the words by which I announce my conversion.

“After explaining its meanings to me in English, I recited after him in Arabic that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” recounted Tawfiq, holding back his tears.

‘Gardens of Islam’Thus his life has taken a different course. Living in Egypt, Tawfiq wrote a book about the tenets of Islam.

Explaining why he penned his book Gardens of Delight: a Simple Introduction to Islam, Tawfiq noted that everyone is saying that Islam is not a religion of terrorism and isn’t a religion of hatred, but no-one tries to explain what it is.

“So I decided to write this book to give non-Muslims an idea about the basic principles of Islam. I tried to tell people how beautiful Islam is and that Islam has the most extraordinary treasures, the most important being Muslims’ love for each other. The Prophet says ‘Even a smile to your brother is a charity.’

Tawfiq told the Gazette that he is working on a book about the Prophet Muhammad [may the blessing and mercy of God be upon him] which he thinks will be different from the many books already written about him.

He thinks that the “best and fastest way” of acquainting the world with the true image of Islam is to set a good example in real life.
